GOOD SELECTION OF IMAGES FOR YOUR MOODBOARD!
distorted reflection
This is the type of reflection where you would use the basics of using a mirror and a subject to achieve the image but to manipulate it in a way where the reflection is not totally clear. He created distortion through the refraction of the water in the glass. And also the continuation of the reflection in the mirror creates a an illusion

PLEASE BE MORE SPECIFIC, AS TO WHAT A 'BASIC' REFLECTION IS AND THE KIND OF DISTORTED REFLECTION THAT ANTONIO GUTIERREZ CREATES.
antonio guetierez
Hw is a Spanish photographer who works a lot with surrealism and a lot of his strands are very distorted and the black is presented really strong. All of his images are in black and white and produced to set in the early 1900s and the images take you back a few years . They also project the bold black and white colours. His images are very odd in a way that is different from anything else I have seen.
In this image his piece has an effect of distortion. The photoshop of the image is done really precisely like that is the original of the legs caught in the reflection and that its repeated throughout all the mirror reflections. It also makes the observer feel like they are trapped in a repetitive cycle and can't get out from it. I also think the fa t that he didn't show the face wanted the centre of the image to be in the face and to also keep some mystery in the picture so that not everything was given away. I also think that the way he made the image into black and white made the image a lot more simple but also made us think about what colours would of been used instead.

my responce:
My intention for this task is to show a warp and a double image where there is two perspectives happening at the same time creates a different facial expression and angle like there is two images at the same time.
In this task I had two shoot to uses a variation of media to create the same effect as the inpriration for this shoot. But I ask used compositions that were not used by Antonio. Further more through this shoot I wanted there to be a element base of water and see how the water would minipulate a reflection. The reflection in the water turns on itself but further more it also stretches the images with makes the images warp and twitst in a variation of ways. In the shoot I also liked how we influenced the coloured ink into the shoot because it would of then made the image look as though thee is speak but the colour didn't fit with the theme into the reflection. I also tried to use a sheet of acrylic instead of a mirror to get a reflection into the image. If I were to to a reset I would tale into account how Antonio used a big mirror incorporated into his images to repeat the image. I would also work on how I would make the image more older looking and give the image some age.
mirror reflection
This is the normal way one would reflect an object or person by using a mirror to either capture the nature or person in a different way than normal.
sebastian magani
Born in 1985 in a small village in Switzerland and he found photography whilst training as a media designer in 2006 and after 5 years of working in the advertising agency he pursued photography. He now has work like the "Underdogs" and "Under cats" he also did a scheme of work in reflection which gained him a lot of attention and is what we will be studying and taking into inspiration for these pieces.
DESCRIBE WHAT HIS IMAGES BELOW LOOK LIKE.
DESCRIBE WHAT HIS IMAGES BELOW LOOK LIKE.
His images are placed really cleverly and both layers of the image are clear and very centre to the picture making the image look very exact. The images in the mirror are also contrasting to the background with makes the layers stand out more and separates the images from flowing with each other and makes the concept of the pictures more clear. The fact that the mirrors have a whole different element or season in the mirror make the images transfer you into a whole different world and makes it unrealistic. I also think the way he pairs specific colours together makes the work that much more interesting to look at. I also think how he uses a seamless mirror that doesn't have a frame around it is purposeful to create more of a window effect so the mirror acts as a clear window into a new world. Also the way he juxtaposes the elements that he is talking pictures of makes the images look like a fantasy. The way that the spaces on the sides of the mirror look like the have been measured using a ruler because they look so exact on all sides.
My first responce
This was my first shoot for this task. In the task we were told capture a natural reflection of nature in a mirror with another natural or a juxtaposing background behind it.
The task was to create a similar piece to Magani but the way I used colours was a lot more neutral to how his colours were incorporated into his shoot. Also I think through this task it was hard to het the right depth of field so that both the mirror were both in focus so through the shoot its either the mirror or the background thats in focus. Also I think the fact that I used a square mirror instead of a circle mirror made the image more harsh to look at because of the sharp corners and it made it harder to make it look like all sides around the mirror were all the same size around the image. The fact that the mirror was also dirty I think also had an effect on the way the shoot turned out because it made the mirror look a lot more pixelated when the mirror wasn't in focus. If I were to do the shoot again then I would make sure that the mirror was clean and that there was more of an incorporation of other colours in the process.
GOOD ASSESSMENT OF YOUR FIRST SHOOT. USE CAPS AT THE START OF EACH SENTENCE AND FOR I'S AND PROPER NAMES.
SP - TOO LOW GRAMMAR - WOULD HAVE COME OUT BETTER |
my second responce
my favourite images edited
The clarity of the images is a lot better than the first shoot and also the composition of the images is laid out more structures and the distances around the mirror is more even and not as slanted the first shoot. The shots in the mirror are very obvious to see also the fact that the images in the mirrors didn't have to be photoshopped in makes the angles and clarity of the image flow more. But the images would of been better if the background of the images were in focus as well as the image. If I was to do another shoot I would find a way to make both the image in the mirror and the background in focus at the same time. Also in this shoot I wanted to experiment with what would turn out with a broken mirror and what effect it would have. I think the type of mirror that is used in these toes of shoots has an impact because it makes the theme of the image softer or harder and i think the fact that there was a broken made the image harsh to look at. The reason I made an image in black and white I think was to make the image stand out and to create a pop of colour. I still stuck to neutral colours sp that I could focus on getting the composition right.

reflections in colour
In this task we needed to create a collage of colour as though the images were photoshopped into place. so that there would be a development of shadows and so that it would look more realistic and that there would be more depth
tamara lorenz
German artist creates various constructions which she then photographs to exploit their abstract properties. ... Rather than photographs of things, each image seems to create its own reality. Consequently, the viewer is unable to recognise a conventional subject and is occupied with the business of looking.

INTRODUCE THIS TASK AND YOUR AIMS. THEN, EDIT AND ANALYSE YOUR RESULTS.
The aim for this task was to make an image that resembled the work of Tamara Lorenz with her work with blocks of colours. The images would of looked better if the images of the blocks of colours flowed more with the background colour and the paper didn't look as grainy and was more smooth. I think that the fact the image didn't have any shadows in the collage took away depth that the image should of had which would of made the image look a lot more realistic.

three strands
reflection in people:
my intentions for the task is to create an image that reflects the two sides of one person and how they act in different environments.
jamal shabazz
Jamel Shabazz is an African-American, fashion, fine art, and documentary photographer. Shabazz has gained international recognition through his various books, exhibitions, and editorial magazine works. The way that he incoorparates urban elements is also something that gave his recognition as well as his new perspective of how life works due to his cultural background a lot of his images were diiferent and more reflective of who he was as a photographer.
He also took pictures of the youth as well as the ages to show how the variations of ages lived there life. The fact that he chose subjects that have bags that look like they were just coming back from school shows that his shoots aren't very organised and are quite spontaneous It makes me feel like his images are effortless and it make the images look like they have more meaning because there is no standard to how you should be to have a picture taken of you. They way that he got the kids to pose gives off an aura of there youth and that they don't care what others think to summarise the youth

The way that he takes his images in public transport make the images a lot more real and relatable because its nit on some elborate set that need a lot of work. The way he gets people in there everyday life and attire is a common theme in the way he takes his images. This image makes me feel like thee is a clear retro vibe in the picture and gives the observer a clear depiction of what life was like in the past. His images have a lot of impact through the poses and the environment that the picture was taken. The fact that he only took pictures of other African Americans show that he was very proud of who he was and wanted to show what he saw to the rest of the world.

VERY CREATIVE STRAND! PLEASE INTRODUCE THIS TASK AND YOUR INTENTIONS AND PUT YOUR FINAL IMAGE BELOW YOUR CONTACT SHEET. INCLUDE YOUR PHOTOSHOP SCREENSHOTS AND THEN ANALYSE YOUR RESULTS.
The inspiration that I gained from James work was the locations that he used like the underground and the fact that his images also were a lot more dated with is something g I wish I captured more in my images. I also wanted to recreate something that was youthful and I wanted there to be a showcase of the different emotions that a person would go through and on the different environments that they pose through and how they are in those different environments. I wanted to layer them in a way that shows how different they would be at the same time. It was almost like a projection of what the images could look like. The style of it looking like a mini projection makes the image stand out more. If I was to do reshoot then I would make sure that there is another style of layering images together.
reflection in water:
My intentions is to create something of urban and futuristic lighting into the image with a lot of bright colours that contrast with the rest of the night.
salva semenuita
An artist and photographer born in Siberia but he lived most his life in Minsk Belrus Recently moving to Sochi with is full of a lot of sea and mountains. He has said he like the work of the cosmos and neon colours that are really found in nature. His work is also an inspiration of the deep sea animals that fluorescent under water. Also the uv radiation waves only visible in neon colours. He also likes the fantasy of a mysteries and magical facts. As a child he liked to draw animals and into science fiction. But a lot of these facts oppose this strand of urban life and they way he places these colours into the water.
In the picture it almost looks like he is trying to make the illusion that he is taking the reflection through water but he actually has focused on the drain butane first sight the drain looks like water.

He also uses more than one colour and combines the different colours with the water to create a new colour ad sign and by creating a path of light round the puddle it gives the image more depth.
|
Salva also uses the technique of trying to alter the neon signs he finds into other words to convey a message from the original words for example from the original words it looks like he tried to spell out RIP.

www:I think the fact that the images had a clear reading of the word or part of a word in the reflection went well of the picture to stand out and the clarity of the reflection also made the image stand out more as well as the colours in the reflection made the picture more vibrant.
ebi: If the background of the images were in focus as well as the reflections the image would of had a stronger composition.
ebi: If the background of the images were in focus as well as the reflections the image would of had a stronger composition.
reflection in eyes:
the process for the process is to create another image through depth in the eye and to portray two images at the same time.
jack davison
He is a British artist and photographer who is known for doing a lot of pieces in black and white and also muted colours. The fact that he uses tones show that he is still able to create a lot pf depth in the images. He has done a lot of editorial work and has worked with a lot of famous actors in the process of that his images consist of a lot of blank faces and his mood for his images is quite serious.
The way he composes the images in a way that with a two of them the actual face is not visible and only the reflection is seen shows that his style of composition and the image looks more serious and mysterious. The fact that the background of the image is in pure black make the rest of the image stand out more. Also the fact that in the middle image the subjects fair is half seen but he isn't looking at the camera but in the pother two the subjects faces are not visible but they are staring right at the ca era makes the image a lot more intense and dark.

shoot two |
For my images I chose to ,make the composition of the image a lot more further away instead of close up but the image was not as intense but I think that fact that there was more black I n the background made the subject stand out allot more and there was a much bigger constrast. I think what I did well was the fact that the tones of the image was really clear and that the images were not blurry. If I was to redo the shoot then I would make sure that I did more of a close up shot so that the image was more intense
second responce
For this edit I wanted to experiment more with the way we could incorporate and urban or natural environment into the eye so that reflection of the eyes was taken more literal for this response. I also kept it in colour so that the lights in her eyes would be more prominently seen. If I was to do another edit I would do ii in black and white so there would be more of a contrast.

final piece
In this edit I decide to create more of a shadow effect in the eye so that there would be more of a mysterious look. I also chose to keep the reflection placed in the eye in colour so that it would be more visible and seen as the focus point of the image. The way the shadow keeps over the left side of her face was purposeful to give the eye more of a rounded effect. I chose to blend it so that it looked like it was her actual eye so that it would look like a past memory and look nostalgic. if I was to redo this shoot then I would try to see the process of the whole image in black and white. |
developed strand: Reflection of people
davis ayer
Davis Ayer does a lot of edstorialshoots as well as his own work and strands. A lot of his images have a lot of layers in the process. He incapsulates landscapes and altering through photoshop giving the illusion that the pictures are with just a projector and the person as the canvas. His strand on time travel is a mix of projections of nature and people. These give illusions of it being futuristic which give reasons behind the title.
In his images the focus point seems to be the body of the person with is anting like the canvas and the background is just complete black inter of the reflection carrying on behind. The fact that the faces are hidden shows that the subjects face is not always what needs to be seen to get the rest of the message on display by making the back in total black the colours of the image pop more and tells more of a story.

marthe sobczak
Marthe Sobczak is a French-Polish photographer who became encapsulated to photography because of her love of painting, graphics, geometric shapes and vibrant hues. Because of her past experience in modelling she was very aware of how to work the body in specific ways which made the way she made her images unique because she then had experience on both sides of the camera. Her series of portraits called ‘Projection’ focuses mainly on bodies, as pictures are projected onto the skin of her models. The models are essentially canvases for the projected colors or designs, creating a unique set of portraits that are half painting, half photo.
In her images the focus of the image is the face instead but still keeping to the theme of the back being black witch I thin k makes images more intense. She made the models stare directly into the camera so that whoever was looking at the I'm ages felt like they were being followed by a pair of eyes. She also chose to do her shots more close up instead of from far away.

The process of creating these images was by importing old pictures of the Lara and then blowing them up through a projector.
Then by having Lara overlap the projections and creation the reflection of how she has aged and her features have changed. The main ways that I used photoshop is mainly cropping the pictures or turning them black and white or changing the saturation and hues. If the images that were projected on to the subject were enlarges a little bit more than they originally are then the composition of the projection would of been straighter and I would of been able to place the subject in various places. I also should of found a way to decrease the size of the shadow in the back so that there is a less focus on the shadow. The clarity of the projection on most of the images was done well and there was a change in contrast. I think the fact that there is a juxtaposition in some of the facial expression wit the projection and the subject creates more of an impact in the picture. |
